Actress Kavita Chaudhary of Doordarshan serial Udaan is no more, Lalita ji had become famous in every household.
Actress Kavita Chaudhary, who won the hearts of the audience with her acting in Doordarshan’s popular serial Udaan, is no more. He died in a hospital in Amritsar due to a heart attack on Thursday night. Kavita Chaudhary was 67 years old. Apart from TV serials, the actress was also popular as housewife Lalita ji in Surf detergent advertisements in India in the 1980s. Kavita Chaudhary has been admitted to the hospital for the last few days. The actress’s nephew Ajay Sayal has informed about her demise.
Speaking to news agency PTI, Ajay Sayal said, ‘He died of a heart attack in Amritsar hospital at around 8.30 pm last night. He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago due to low blood pressure. Later his condition became critical. The last rites were performed here on Thursday morning. Kavita Choudhary’s family consists of Sayal and her niece. Kavita Choudhary was best known for her role as IPS officer Kalyani Singh in Udaan, a progressive show about women empowerment, which aired on Doordarshan between 1989 and 1991.
Apart from acting, Kavita Choudhary wrote and directed the serial, which was inspired by the life of her elder sister and police officer Kanchan Choudhary Bhattacharya. Udaan, which also stars Shekhar Kapur, revolves around the struggles of a woman who wants to become an IPS officer. The critically acclaimed show, which inspired a generation of women to take up public service, was brought back to Doordarshan again during the pandemic.
