IND vs ENG: Due to which family medical emergency Ashwin has withdrawn from Rajkot Test, BCCI Vice President revealed

Indian cricket team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had to be ruled out of the ongoing third Test match against England in Rajkot on Friday due to a family medical emergency. On Friday itself, Ashwin became the second bowler from India and 9th in the world to take 500 wickets in Test cricket. BCCI had given an update on this development. The board issued a statement, ‘Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test team with immediate effect due to a family medical emergency. In these challenging times, the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the team provide full support to Ashwin.

For what reason was Ashwin out?
BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla gave another update about the incident on social media and wrote that Ashwin’s mother has a medical emergency. He wrote on Twitter, ‘I wish for the speedy recovery of Ashwin’s mother. He had to leave Rajkot Test and go to Chennai to live with his mother.

BCCI did not give the reason
The Indian Cricket Board did not reveal the exact reason for Ashwin’s withdrawal and requested everyone to respect the cricketer’s privacy. The statement further said- BCCI will extend its full support to the champion cricketer and his family. The health and well-being of the players and their loved ones is of paramount importance. The Board requests that the privacy of Ashwin and his family be respected as we move forward during these challenging times.

Suspense even on playing in the last two tests
Ashwin participated in the press conference after the match and then went to Chennai. BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in the statement, ‘The board and the team will continue to provide any necessary assistance to Ashwin and will continue to talk to provide support as needed. Team India appreciates the understanding and sympathy of the fans and media during this sensitive time.
India will play the remainder of the third Test with 10 players and four specialist bowlers. It is understood that Ashwin may not be available for the remaining two Test matches to be held in Ranchi (25-29 February) and Dharamshala (7-11 March).
