Uttarakhand / Dehradun: 51 advocates nominated for 11 posts in Doon Bar Association elections, withdrawal of nominations today, picture will also be clear

The official bugle sounded on Friday for the 11-member elections of the Bar Association. 51 advocates nominated for 11 posts. Among these, maximum eight advocates filed nominations for the post of Secretary and Vice President. Whereas, five advocates including outgoing Chairman Anil Sharma and two former Chairman Manmohan Kandwal and Alok Ghildiyal filed nomination for the post of Chairman.

Saturday is the day of withdrawal of nominations under the election process. After 2 pm the number of candidates contesting the elections will become clear. Elections are to be held on 27th February and counting of votes will take place on 28th February.

Candidates had arrived in different styles to file their nominations in a room located at Vidhi Bhawan. Outgoing president Anil Sharma came for nomination wearing Brahmakamal cap. Whereas, Manmohan Kandwal, who has been president eight times, reached Bar Bhavan wearing dhoti.

All the candidates filed nominations before election officers LB Gurung, Deepak Ahluwalia and SS Mehra. After the nomination, the election campaign has gained momentum. All the advocates are trying to woo the voters in their own ways.

• Secretary: Anil Pandit, Prakash T Pal, Rajbir Singh Bisht, Ajay Bisht, Rakesh Kumar, Randeep Singh Grewal, Ravindra Kumar Chauhan, Vijayesh Chandra Navani.
