Russia: Russia captures Avdivka city of Ukraine
Russia has achieved great success in the fight against Ukraine. Actually, Russia has captured the city of Avdivka in Ukraine. Avdiivka is an important eastern city of Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised his army for this achievement and described this victory as very important. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Soigu informed President Putin about this.
The battle to capture Avdivka was one of the most dangerous battles of the Russia-Ukraine war.
The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement saying that Avdiivka was a strong defense hub for Ukrainian forces and that a Russian occupation of Avdiivka would severely impact Ukraine’s ability to attack Russia. The Chief of the Ukrainian Army issued a statement on Saturday confirming the Russian occupation of Avdiivka. Ukrainian Army Chief Alexander Syrsky said, “I have decided to withdraw my troops so that as many lives as possible can be saved.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also said the decision to withdraw was taken to save the lives of soldiers. Zelensky blamed the defeat on lack of weapons. He said that unfortunately Ukraine is suffering from shortage of weapons. Especially there is a shortage of long-range weapons and missiles. Due to this, Russia had intensified the attacks.
Avdivka city has been destroyed in the Russian attack
Avdiivka was the site of some of the fiercest fighting on the eastern border in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Here Russia carried out heavy bombing and airstrike. Avdivka is less than 10 kilometers away from the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Donetsk. The battle of Avdiivka is also being compared to the battle of Bakhmut, where more than 10 thousand soldiers were killed. According to media reports, the population of Avdivka was around 34 thousand, who fled after the war started. About one thousand people are still living here. Most of the city has been destroyed due to the war.
