Eiffel Tower is small, Qutub Minar is also dwarf, world’s highest arch rail bridge built on Chenab River

India’s first cable based railway bridge is completely ready. This bridge of Jammu and Kashmir is the highest railway bridge in the world. Northern Railway officials said that trains will run at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour on this bridge being built about 80 kilometers away from Jammu.

Built at a height of 359 meters

The world’s highest railway bridge spans the Chenab River at a height of 359 meters (1,178 ft) above the river.

Taller than the eiffel tower

This railway bridge is 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower of Paris. The railway bridge is 1,178 feet above the river bed.

Arch category bridge

Chenab Railway Bridge comes in the category of arch bridge. This is the highest railway bridge in the world.

Approval was given in 2002

Approval to build Chenab Bridge was received in the year 2002. But work on it started in 2004 but then it stopped.

Took 18 years to make

This bridge took 18 years to complete. According to Northern Railway officials, the main reason for the delay in construction was its design.

Higher than Qutub Minar

This bridge is 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower of Paris and 5 times higher than the Qutub Minar of Delhi. The total length of the bridge is 1,315 metres.

Even a storm of 260 km speed cannot shake it

The life of this railway bridge built on Chenab river is 120 years. Its design can even withstand a storm with a speed of 260 km per hour.

No need of paint for 20 years

Such paint has been used on this bridge that there will be no need to paint it for the next 20 years.

Even 30 kilos of explosives can’t do anything

Chenab Bridge is the first bridge in the country to be designed for blast load. Even 30 kg of explosives cannot do anything to it.

Even earthquake shocks cannot shake

This arch bridge can remain standing even after an earthquake of 8 reactor scale intensity. More than Rs 35000 crore has been spent in this project.
