Muslim countries of the world united against Israel, Saudi-UAE also got angry

Islamic countries have united against Israel regarding the war in Gaza and are strongly criticizing it. Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday condemned Israel in the Hague-based United Nations’ top court, the International Court of Justice. Earlier, Saudi Arabia had said that there is no forgiveness for Israel’s crimes.

The International Court of Justice began hearing arguments on Tuesday in a case regarding Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. The hearing began after the Palestinian Authority asked the court on Monday to declare the Israeli occupation illegal. A total of 52 countries will participate in the hearing and will present their arguments by 26 February.

Many Islamic countries are included among those presenting arguments. On Wednesday, UAE Ambassador to the United Nations Lana Nusseibeh argued that international law should apply to Israel and the Palestinian territories and whatever opinion the ICJ gives in the case will be considered appropriate.

He said in the court, ‘International law cannot be special for anyone. It should apply equally to everyone.

Criticized Israel in harsh words

In her speech, the UAE envoy expressed regret over the war and reiterated the need for a two-state resolution to resolve the Israel-Palestine dispute.

He said, ‘The horrors we have seen in the last few months, the October 7 attack on Israel followed by the destruction of the Gaza Strip, the oppression in the West Bank… make it clear that there is a strong need to realize the two-state solution. .’

In the context of Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza and its occupation of the West Bank, the UAE Ambassador said in harsh words, ‘Today we are holding a meeting and on the other hand Israel is torturing Palestinians, it is not getting any punishment.’

‘Israeli settlements in the occupied territory…’

At the same time, Yasmine Moussa, advisor to Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, presented arguments on behalf of Egypt in the court.

“Israel’s long-term occupation is illegal, an international wrongdoing and must be ended immediately,” he said.

Moussa particularly criticized Israeli settlements in the West Bank, saying that Israeli settlements are destroying the possibility of a two-state solution. He alleged that Israel has removed Palestinians from their land on a large scale in the area.

What did Saudi Arabia say?

Saudi Arabia presented its arguments in the court on the very first day of the hearing i.e. Tuesday. Kingdon’s ambassador to the Netherlands, Ziad Al-Attiyah, representing Saudi in the court, said that Israel’s actions in the Palestinian territories are inexcusable.

Israel captured the West Bank and Gaza in 1967. In 2005, Gaza came under the control of Palestinian fighters, Hamas.

According to news agency Reuters, Israel will not testify in the International Court in this case, but it has sent a written response saying that such advice will harm efforts to resolve the conflict.

According to the Hague programme, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait and Lebanon will present arguments on the occupation case on Thursday. Other regional countries including Qatar will give their arguments on Friday and Turkey on Monday.
