Uttarakhand: ED calls former forest minister Harak Singh Rawat for questioning, will have to appear on February 29
Senior Congress leader and former minister Harak Singh Rawat has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on 29th February. Along with him, his close and family members will also be interrogated regarding the documents recovered after the raid conducted at his place recently. Apart from Rawat, IFS officer Sushant Patnaik has also been called for questioning.
Recently, on February 7, the Enforcement Directorate had raided Harak Singh Rawat’s Dehradun and other places in the case of illegal tree cutting in Pakharo Tiger Safari of Corbett. Along with this, IFS officer Sushant Patnaik was also taken on its radar by the Enforcement Directorate. ED raids were also conducted at the premises of former DFO Kishan Chand and former forest range officer Brij Bihari Sharma.
It is being told that during the raid conducted recently, ₹1.10 crore cash and jewelery worth more than ₹80 lakh were recovered. Along with this, papers of many properties were also found during the raid. Now ED will inquire about all these properties and aspects related to Pakhro Tiger Safari.
However, the Enforcement Directorate has called everyone on different dates. Harak Singh Rawat’s close aide Lakshmi Rana has been called for questioning on 27th February. So Sushant Patnaik will have to answer questions on 28th February. On 29 February, Harak Singh Rawat and some family members were called to the office.
However, after the raid, Rawat was seen saying that he is ready for every investigation and inquiry, because he has not done anything wrong. At the same time, Congress is calling this entire action as an act of revenge.
