Before Loksabha Election 2024, Congress finalized seat distribution with two important allies

Congress, which faced challenges in the initial phase of talks with allies over seat sharing ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, has finally resolved the matter with two key allies. The matter of seat sharing of Congress with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) has been completed. In such a situation, speculations are being made that the crisis of Congress is also gradually coming to an end. But, in reality it is not so. In fact, it still has to resolve the issue of seat sharing in West Bengal and Maharashtra and its path here does not seem easy.
Lok Sabha elections are not far away. The country’s main opposition party Congress has formed India Alliance for this, which includes many regional parties opposed to the BJP government. India Alliance has not started the election campaign yet. In front of them is the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has won the last two Lok Sabha elections and is trying to win for the third consecutive time. Congress is making a lot of claims but talks have not been possible with fellow political parties regarding seat sharing. Even in Delhi and UP, distribution of seats has been done after a lot of difficulties.
How is the situation in Bengal?
There is no consensus on seat sharing between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Congress party in West Bengal. TMC led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says that in the last Lok Sabha elections, Congress had won 2 seats in the state. Therefore, this time he should contest elections on only 2 seats. At the same time, Congress is adamant on the demand for more seats. TMC has said many times that if Congress is not satisfied with 2 seats then we are ready to contest the Lok Sabha elections alone. According to reports, Congress had demanded 10 seats from TMC but TMC has clearly refused it.
How is the situation in Maharashtra?
Even in Maharashtra, Bharat Alliance has not yet been able to complete the distribution of seats. However, it is being said that the last round of talks are going on between Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP. The problem is the same here also. Other parties are not ready for the number of seats that Congress wants. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has even said that Congress did not get a single seat in the state in the last Lok Sabha elections. Therefore, Congress should start talks on seat sharing from scratch. Shiv Sena is not ready to compromise on the seats it has won.
