Uttarakhand: Dhami government presented budget of ₹89,230.07 crore, estimated revenue receipt of ₹88,597.11 crore

Proceedings of the second day of the budget session of Uttarakhand Assembly are going on. When the Question Hour started in the House, the opposition raised questions regarding law and order across the state under Rule 310. After the Question Hour, Finance Minister Premchand Aggarwal presented the biggest budget in the history of Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand’s budget presented

The Dhami government of Uttarakhand has presented a budget of Rs 89 thousand 230 crore 7 lakh for the financial year 2024-25. The government is estimated to earn revenue of Rs 88,597.11 crore. In this, revenue receipts of Rs 60,552.90 crore and capital receipts of Rs 28,044.21 crore have been estimated. Earlier, a total budget of seventy six thousand five hundred ninety two crore fifty four lakh rupees (₹76592.54 crore) was presented in the financial year 2023-24. In this, revenue receipts were estimated at fifty seven thousand fifty seven crore twenty six lakh (₹57057.26 crore) and capital receipts at nineteen thousand five hundred thirty five crore twenty eight lakh (₹19535.28 crore).

Today is the second day of the budget session of Uttarakhand Assembly. Today, before the government presented the budget in the House, the opposition surrounded it fiercely. Deputy Leader of Opposition Bhuvan Kapri raised the issue of law and order in the House.

Opposition surrounded the government in the budget session

As soon as the proceedings of the second day started, the opposition in the House continuously asked questions one after the other at the government during the Question Hour. Before going to the House, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that the opposition is trying its best to cooperate in running the House as per the smooth parliamentary working procedures. Yashpal Arya also said that he makes every effort to ensure that the opposition does not create any kind of disruption in the House. Before going to the House, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that the law and order situation in the entire state is bad. The opposition is raising questions in the House under Rule 310 regarding the way law and order cases are going on one after the other across the state.

The issue of irrigation canal construction was raised

MLA Ravi Bahadur raised the issue of Jwalapur Subhashgarh Irrigation Canal Construction Scheme in the House. He said that the work has been done with centrally funded AIBP funds. Despite spending Rs 7 crore on the construction of the canal, the construction work is incomplete. On this the opposition said that the government should make public the names of officers involved in corruption. Pritam Singh said that the investigation is going on since 2021, but it has not been completed till date. On this, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj said that strict action will be taken against scam officials. Maharaj also said that he will complete the construction work after getting NOC from the farmers.

Satpal Maharaj trapped in the maze of opposition

In fact, today most of the questions related to tourism, irrigation, public works and Panchayati Raj have been raised in the House. Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj is the minister of all these departments. The opposition says that they are not satisfied with Satpal Maharaj’s answer. It seemed in the House that Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj was getting cornered on the opposition’s questions. Seeing Satpal Maharaj trapped in the maze of opposition, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Premchand Aggarwal took charge. On this, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya targeted Premchand Aggarwal by reminding him of parliamentary traditions.

BJP MLAs surrounded their own minister

Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj’s troubles did not end here. BJP MLAs Vinod Chamoli and Munna Singh Chauhan also asked policy questions to Public Works Minister Satpal Maharaj. Vinod Chamoli and Munna Singh Chauhan raised questions on the action taken to make the roads pothole free. Both the MLAs asked what are the standards of potholes on roads for Satpal Maharaj’s department? Which road is considered to be potholed and which is considered worthy of reconstruction.
