200 gunmen kidnapped ASP in Manipur, rescue done, police commandos laid down arms in protest

He was abducted from his house by 200 people of the cadre of Meitei organization Arambai Tenggol. This incident in Imphal East happened around 6.20 pm on Tuesday evening. Due to which the government is being criticized.

However, Additional SP Amit Myengbam, who was kidnapped in Manipur on Tuesday, has been rescued by the police and security forces. To register protest against this incident, Manipur Police Commandos laid down their weapons and demonstrated against this incident. ACP Amit has been admitted to the hospital, where his condition is stable.

After this incident, once again there is a situation of tension in Imphal East. Meanwhile, the army has been called to control the situation and 4 contingents of Assam Rifles have been deployed in the area. The kidnapping was reportedly carried out by an armed group called Arambai Tenggol, a Meitei group.

On Tuesday evening, some people of Meitei organization attacked the house of ASP Amit. During this time, firing also took place between the security guards and the armed miscreant, due to which four vehicles were damaged. After this Meitei people kidnapped Amit. The Additional SP and his escort were rescued from Kwakithel Konjeng Likai area.

The police statement said that 200 armed men attacked the officer’s house and fired indiscriminately and damaged his property. According to reports, Amit had arrested 6 members of Meitei organization Arambai Tenggol a few days ago on charges of vehicle theft. Regarding which he was protesting.

This incident has again spread tension in Imphal Valley. Manipur has been witnessing caste violence since May 3 last year. In which more than 180 people have died in the clashes that took place after the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ in the hill districts.
