Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Rajeev Sharma occupied the post of President of Bar Association, Rajveer Bisht became the secretary again

This time Rajiv Sharma alias Bantu Bhai has occupied the post of President in the largest bar association of the state after a long time. He has defeated nine-time Speaker Advocate Manmohan Kandwal by 66 votes. Bantu was contesting for the post of President for the last several years. Along with this, Rajbir Bisht on the post of Secretary and Bhanu Pratap Sisodia on the post of Vice President were successful in saving the seats this time too. Apart from these, many other members of the executive have also reiterated their victory.

Voting was held in the Dehradun Bar Association elections on Tuesday. Out of total 3815 advocate voters, 2675 advocates had voted. After this, counting of votes started at around 10 am on Wednesday. When the results came around five in the evening, they were shocking. Outgoing president Anil Sharma alias Chini, who was in the executive for six consecutive terms (secretary five times and president once), slipped to third place after getting 715 votes in the race for the post of president.

His long-time partner Manmohan Kandwal also had to be content with second place with 865 votes. Rajiv Sharma alias Bantu Bhai, who stood first, got the maximum 931 votes. In this way, he defeated Manmohan Kandwal by 66 votes and captured the post of President.

Rajeev Sharma has been president twice and secretary twice. The last time he was in the executive was in 2017. At that time, he was defeated by Manmohan Kandwal for the post of President and after this he remained the President for five consecutive terms. During this period, elections were not held for two years due to the Corona period.

Advocate Shivcharan Singh Rawat got the least votes in the election of the Speaker. A total of 28 votes came to his account. Whereas, Alok Ghildiyal, who was at fourth position, had to be satisfied with only 115 votes. On the other hand, Rajbir Singh Bisht, who was elected to the post of Secretary last time, saved his seat this time too. Whereas, Bhanu Pratap Sisodia won the post of Vice President for the fourth consecutive time.
