PCI Chairman: Paralympic gold medalist Devendra files nomination for the post of PCI Chairman, elections on March 9
Two-time Paralympic gold medalist Devendra Jhajharia on Wednesday filed nomination papers for the post of President of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) in the elections to be held on March 9. PCI elections will be held for the President, two Vice-Secretaries, General Secretary, Treasurer, two Joint Secretaries and five members of the Executive Committee.
Jhajharia, 42, a javelin thrower, had won gold medals at the Athens Paralympics in 2004 and Rio Paralympics in 2016. He won a silver medal in the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021. Jhajharia won the gold medal in the World Championships 2013 and the silver medal in 2015. He won a silver medal in the Asian Para Games in 2014.
Jhajharia said, ‘With the encouragement of my well-wishers and with the aim of working for the betterment of Para sports and Para athletes, I have filed my nomination papers for the post of President of the Paralympic Committee of India. I have been the representative of para players in PCI for the last four years, but many well-wishers want me to lead the PCI now. That is why I presented my candidature for the top post.
