His tweet came on Saturday after which it became clear that he is not contesting the elections. The cricketer has recommended PM Modi and Home Minister Shah to relieve him of political responsibilities. Now, there are speculations that BJP may field Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar.

Gautam Gambhir tweeted, “I have requested party president JP Nadda to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments.” He also thanked PM Modi. Gautam Gambhir told PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda that thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the people.

According to media reports, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar may be asked by the Bharatiya Janata Party to contest elections from one of the seats in Delhi. Information has come to light that some party leaders are in touch with the actor. However, no official statement has come out yet.
