Uttarakhand: Waiting for the decision of BJP high command, who will be the candidate from BJP for the parliamentary seats of Haridwar and Pauri?

BJP has announced its candidates for three out of five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand, but it is facing difficulty in selecting candidates for Haridwar and Pauri seats. It is understood that these seats are stuck in the dilemma of regional and caste balance. In such a situation, everyone is eyeing Delhi to decide whom the central leadership of the party will field as its candidate.

A panel of 55 contenders for the five Lok Sabha seats from Uttarakhand was sent to the central leadership. These have been discussed in the meeting of the Central Parliamentary Board of the party. In such a situation, it was believed that candidates would be declared on all the seats in the state on Saturday, but BJP opened its cards only on three seats. Only sitting MPs have been made candidates for Tehri, Almora and Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar.

There is more discussion on caste balance

In such a situation, it is natural for there to be discussion in political circles about the candidates for Haridwar and Pauri parliamentary seats. There is more discussion on caste balance in this. Actually, there are Brahmin candidates from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar and Scheduled Caste candidates from Almora. Tehri seat has been kept intact for the woman candidate. Talking about Haridwar seat, the MP representing there is a Brahmin.

The current MP from Pauri seat is a Kshatriya. The panel of contenders from Pauri also includes a big leader who comes from the Brahmin community. In such a situation, if Brahmins are made candidates on both the seats, this number will become three. Similar situation will be there with the candidates coming from Kshatriya community also. Not only this, there is talk that a demand has also been raised to make a person of plains origin a candidate from Haridwar.

It is understood that in view of all these complications, the central leadership of BJP has put these two seats on hold. These two seats may be discussed again in the possible Central Parliamentary Board meeting on March 6 or 7. Here the heartbeats have increased regarding whether the party will trust the old faces or bring in new faces. However, until the candidates for these seats are not announced, they will remain at the center of discussion.
