Uttar Pradesh / Deoria: Fifth murderer also arrested, sent to jail

The fifth accused, who was absconding in the murder case of MNREGA supervisor Kuldeep Kumar of Parsia Karkatahi police station area, was also arrested on Monday afternoon from near Karaundi Kanta. The police presented him in the court on Monday, from where he was sent to jail in judicial custody. However, before this the police had arrested four people including the main accused and sent them to jail.

Kuldeep Prasad (25), resident of Parasia Karkatahi village of Khukhundu police station area, was a supervisor in MNREGA. He used to oversee all the work done under MNREGA in the Gram Sabha. After construction work took place in the village a fortnight ago, sand and bricks were left on the side. He loaded it on the trolley and started dropping it on the other side. The allegation was that the children of the locality were loading sand on the trolley. Some people made a video of this and made it viral in a group. When Kuldeep came to know about this in the evening, he went to the Purba Tola of the village to interrogate the young man who had made it viral. Whereas Kuldeep was beaten with rods and sharp weapons and left bleeding. He died during treatment.

The villagers demonstrated at the police station in protest against the incident. The police immediately increased the murder section and started searching for the accused. The police have already arrested the main accused Avnish Kumar Gautam alias Pancholi, Avinash Kumar Gautam, Rajesh Prasad and his wife Gyanti Devi and sent them to jail.

Inspector Dilip Singh said that on Monday afternoon, Virendra Prasad was arrested from Karaundi Kata of Khukhundu police station area. CO Salempur Deepak Shukla said that the fifth murderer was presented in the court under the registered case, from where he was sent to jail in judicial custody.
