With the arrival of AI teacher, Iris, in a school in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, it is being considered a revolutionary step in the field of education. Developed in collaboration with MakerLabs edutech company, Iris is the first humanoid robot teacher in the state and possibly the entire country. This innovation comes from KTCT Higher Secondary School, which is an initiative of Kaduvayil Thangal Charitable Trust. Iris is part of the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) project, a 2021 NITI Aayog initiative designed to promote extracurricular activities in schools.

The capabilities of this multilingual AI teacher can be seen in a video shared by MakerLabs on Instagram. Iris can answer complex questions across a variety of topics, provide personal voice assistance, and facilitate interactive learning experiences. Iris is also equipped with wheels. This is part of ATL (Atal Tinkering Lab), a scheme of the Government of India, whose objective is to increase the activity of children in schools. Iris can speak in three languages and can also answer difficult questions.
