Uttarakhand: Medicines being delivered by drone to patients in remote areas

Patients from remote areas have been provided relief by AIIMS Hospital. AIIMS provided TB medicine to three patients of Tehri last Tuesday through regular drone service. Along with this, the sputum sample of a new patient was also sent to AIIMS for testing. Now patients from remote areas of hill districts will not have to come to AIIMS again and again for treatment and other tests.

Let us tell you that AIIMS Hospital is providing treatment facilities to these patients at home. Medicines are being sent through telemedicine consultation and drone medical service. Through telephone consultancy, a senior doctor of Pulmonary Medicine also consulted three TB patients on Tuesday. Let us tell you that all these patients are getting treatment from AIIMS only.

Medicines made available to patients
According to the information, the drone service was sent from AIIMS helipad to District Hospital Bauradi Tehri at 11.30 am on Tuesday. The drone covered a distance of 48 kilometers in 35 minutes and reached the district hospital at 12.05 pm. For return, it left from there at 12.45 with the sputum sample of a new TB patient and reached AIIMS helipad at 1.20 pm.

Drone service continues
According to the information, AIIMS Director Prof. Meenu Singh said that with the aim of promoting drone based health services, regular drone service is going on for various hospitals. Dr. Jitendra Gairola, Nodal Officer of Drone Service, said that during this period, AIIMS has provided medicines to three TB patients through drones.
