Uttarakhand: Dhami government’s big announcement before Lok Sabha elections, four percent increase in DA of 2.5 lakh employees

Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Dhami government has taken a big decision. Dhami government increased the dearness allowance of about 2.5 lakh regular and full-time and work-charged employees of government, aided educational and technical educational institutions and urban local bodies of the state by four percent. Under the seventh pay scale, these employees will get 50 percent dearness allowance instead of 46 percent from January 1, 2024. This will be given along with the salary for the month of March. Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar issued orders in this regard on Friday.

Dearness allowance increased before implementation of code of conduct

The state government has given great relief to the employees by giving them increased dearness allowance even before the implementation of the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took no time in approving the letter sent from Finance. Generally, the state government takes decisions in this regard only a few months after the increase in dearness allowance by the central government. Dhami government took this quick decision this time.

Dearness allowance will be paid along with regular salary

Enhanced dearness allowance has been given to the employees benefited from the seventh revised pay scale. The arrears of revised dearness allowance from March 1, 2024 to February 29, 2024 will be paid in cash. From March 1, 2024, dearness allowance will be paid along with the regular salary, but the pension contribution of the personnel covered under the contributory pension scheme will be deposited in the account related to the new pension scheme along with the employer’s share. The remaining amount will be paid in cash.

Monthly salary will increase by this much

Payment of increased dearness allowance will result in an annual expenditure of about Rs 500 crore on the government treasury. This will increase the monthly salary of the employees by approximately Rs 1000 to Rs 8000. This order will not automatically apply to High Court judges, Chairman and members of the State Public Service Commission and employees of public undertakings. The concerned departments will issue separate orders for them.
