Uttarakhand Congress has suffered a big blow. Congress MLA Rajendra Bhandari from Badrinath in Chamoli district has resigned from the membership of Congress. Also has taken membership of BJP. In Delhi, Rajendra Bhandari took membership of the party in the presence of Piyush Goyal, CM Dhami, Anil Baluni and Dushyant Kumar Gautam. Anil Baluni welcomed Rajendra Bhandari on joining the party. On Sunday, Uttarakhand Congress got a big blow in the form of Congress MLA Rajendra Bhandari from Badrinath. Rajendra Bhandari took membership of BJP in Delhi in the presence of Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand BJP in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam and Garhwal Lok Sabha seat candidate Anil Baluni. With Rajendra Bhandari joining BJP, BJP will benefit from Garhwal Lok Sabha seat. Because Rajendra Bhandari was the only Congress MLA from Garhwal Lok Sabha seat.

Rajendra Bhandari’s political journey

Rajendra Bhandari is the current MLA from Badrinath. Before this, Rajendra Bhandari had also been a cabinet minister in the Harish Rawat government after being elected MLA from Badrinath seat in the 2012 assembly elections. Whereas in the 2022 assembly elections, Rajendra Bhandari has defeated Uttarakhand BJP President Mahendra Bhatt. Rajni Bhandari, wife of Rajendra Bhandari, is currently the District Panchayat President from Chamoli. After joining BJP, Rajendra Bhandari said that he has joined the party after being impressed by the development work going on in Uttarakhand.

Dhan Singh Negi left Congress

At the same time, senior Congress leader and former MLA from Tehri Assembly Dhan Singh Negi has also resigned from Congress. Upset over not getting a ticket in the 2022 assembly elections, Dhan Singh Negi left BJP and joined Congress.
