Election Commission made new information related to electoral bonds public and uploaded it on its website.

The Election Commission has made public new information related to electoral bonds purchased by the people and encashed by political parties. This is the information which was handed over to the Registry in a sealed envelope by the Election Commission following the instructions of the Supreme Court. A day earlier i.e. on Saturday, the registry had returned that information to the Election Commission. After which now the Election Commission has uploaded that information on its website.
The Election Commission has said that in view of the Supreme Court’s order of March 15, 2024, the registry has returned the data to the Election Commission. The Election Commission has received this data in digital format as well as hard copy. After which now the Election Commission has made the complete information public. According to the order of the Supreme Court, this new information related to electoral bonds was to be made public by 5 pm on March 17. The Commission had received this data from the registry in digital form in a pen drive.
Court has sought answer from SBI for unique number
In the new information uploaded on the website by the Election Commission, only the data of bond date, bond number, bank branch, receiving date and credit date is being shown. This information also does not include that unique number, for which the Supreme Court had reprimanded ACBI and sought a reply from the country’s largest bank by March 18.
The Election Commission had provided information in 2019 and 2023
The Supreme Court, while hearing the petition related to electoral bonds, had questioned the Election Commission about this data. After which the Election Commission said that it is not aware of the pass data. After this, the bench led by the Chief Justice had directed to return the data from the Supreme Court registry. The Election Commission had provided information to the Supreme Court in sealed envelopes in 2019 and 2023.
