Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Model Code of Conduct should be strictly implemented, orders of UP DGP

UP DGP Prashant Kumar has instructed all police officers to strictly implement the Model Code of Conduct. He has said that effective action should be taken continuously with determination by making an action plan towards creating an ideal environment for conducting free, fair and peaceful elections. He said that from the headquarters level, a suggestive draft has been prepared incorporating important election related sections of the Public Representation Act 1951, Election Conduct Rules 1961, Arms Act 1961, Motor Vehicles Act 1988, SC/ST Act 1989 and Information Technology Act 2008. A checklist has been prepared and sent to all the districts and commissionerates for necessary action.

Taking action by campaigning against illegal and poisonous liquor and illegal weapons, monitoring social media platforms, getting licensed weapons and shops verified, testing and submitting licensed weapons through a screening committee and taking effective action against mafia and active criminals. Its being done. Notification system has been activated regarding any kind of inducement or distribution of liquor, money etc. to the voters. Local administrative permission is mandatory for organizing all election related programs and seminars. The instructions of the Election Commission are being followed regarding road show, campaign period, use of vehicles and loudspeakers etc.
