Life imprisonment to two PAC soldiers who opened fire on Uttarakhand agitators in the Rampur Tiraha incident of 1994.

After three decades, in the famous Rampur Tiraha incident of 1994 in Muzaffarnagar district of UP, the court has sentenced two PAC constables to life imprisonment. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on both the constables.
The movement was based on the demand for a separate state
Muzaffarnagar Court proved the charges against PAC constables Milap Singh and Virendra Pratap in the rape case. In this, on January 25, 1995, CBI had registered cases against the police personnel. Under the case, on October 1, 1994, agitators were going to Delhi in buses from Dehradun demanding creation of a separate state (Uttarakhand). Late night, the police had tried to stop the agitators at Rampur Tiraha in Muzaffarnagar.
Seven agitators were killed in police firing
During this time, when the agitators did not agree, the policemen opened fire on the agitators. 7 agitators were killed in this. CBI investigated this entire matter and registered cases against the accused officers and policemen. In this, Milap Singh, resident of Etah, posted as constable in PAC Ghaziabad and the second accused, constable Virendra Pratap, resident of Siddharthnagar, were proved.
Got justice after 30 years
On March 18, 2024, almost 30 years later, in the Rampur Tiraha incident, the Muzaffarnagar court, while giving its verdict, found both the accused constables guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment. Besides, a fine of Rs 25-25 thousand has also been imposed on both the culprits.
