Uttarakhand: 83 lakh 21 thousand 207 voters are being made aware through various means to vote – Joint Chief Electoral Officer

Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Smt. Namami Bansal, while giving a press briefing at the media center located at the Secretariat, said that many activities are being organized in the state to ensure safe and peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 and voter awareness. Many theme based activities are being organized continuously for voter awareness. 83 lakh 21 thousand 207 voters are being made aware through various means to vote. So far 34 lakh 94 thousand voters have taken oath to vote in the state. Voter awareness campaign was started from 25th January, National Voter’s Day.
The Joint Chief Electoral Officer said that a calendar has also been prepared for various activities related to voter awareness from February 13, 2024. So far, 16 thousand activities have been organized for voter awareness like henna competition, rangoli, slogan writing, in which 06 lakh 55 thousand voters have participated so far. About 5700 marathons and rallies have also been organized for voter awareness, in which about 72 thousand voters have participated. 25 thousand events have been organized in the state for voter awareness including speech and debate competitions. In the month of January, camps were organized in mission mode for voter registration, till now 15 thousand 232 camps have been organized for voter registration. Special campaigns were run to connect voters in Nari Niketan, old age homes and educational institutions. 01 lakh 45 thousand first time voters aged between 18 to 19 years have been added in the state, who will exercise their franchise for the first time. Epic cards are also being delivered for them.
Joint Chief Electoral Officer Smt. Namami Bansal informed that the voting percentage in the state in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 was about 61.5 percent. To increase the voting percentage in the state, voters are being encouraged to come to the booth level and for this, a booth level election management plan has also been prepared in each district. Booth level election management plan has been prepared in all 11729 booths. Continuous efforts are being made to increase the voting percentage in the state, a target has been set to increase it to at least 75 percent. Joint Chief Electoral Officer said that 2290 cases have been registered in 107/16 yesterday. So far, around 5800 cases of 107/16 have been registered.
