ED called Kejriwal the mastermind, Singhvi said – no evidence
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was sent on 6-day ED remand by the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court till March 28. Kejriwal was arrested from his residence by the ED on Thursday night after two hours of questioning. A hearing regarding Kejriwal’s remand was held in PMLA court on Friday. During this, ED described Kejriwal as the kingpin and main conspirator of the alleged excise scam of Delhi. The ED claimed in its remand letter that Arvind Kejriwal was involved in a conspiracy to prepare the Excise Policy 2021-22 to benefit certain people and he was demanding bribe from liquor traders in exchange for benefiting them through this policy. The prosecution case has been tested and upheld by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court examined all these things and refused to grant bail to Manish Sisodia. - Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED, said that Arvind Kejriwal deliberately ignored the summons sent by the ED. ED called Kejriwal for questioning nine times.

- During the hearing on Arvind Kejriwal’s petition, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for ED, said that Kejriwal not only bears personal responsibility, he can also be punished for being responsible for this crime.
- ASG Raju appearing on behalf of ED said that Arvind Kejriwal is the chief of Aam Aadmi Party. The liquor policy was implemented through Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh. Vijay Nair is the right hand man of Kejriwal. He used to collect kickbacks for Kejriwal, enforce policies and threaten those who did not agree. Out of the kickback, Rs 45 crore was used in Goa elections.
- ASG SV Raju, appearing on behalf of ED, said that there is a statement of the co-accused, in which it has been told how Arvind Kejriwal and K. Kavita were in touch with each other. Kavita asked the liquor businessman that a policy is being made in Delhi, can an arrangement of Rs 50 crore be made? ASG Raju said that Vinay Nair lived near the Chief Minister’s residence. He was the media in-charge of AAP party. He said that K Kavita had given Rs 300 crore to AAP party.
Kejriwal’s lawyer called the arrest wrong
- Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing on behalf of Arvind Kejriwal, opposed the ED custody. He said, remand is not granted just like that, for this the court has to be satisfied. Having the power to arrest does not mean that you have the compulsion to arrest.
- Advocate Singhvi, appearing on behalf of Kejriwal, said, for the first time in the history of India, a sitting Chief Minister has been arrested. This is the first time that the first four leaders of his party were arrested. It seems as if you know the results even before you cast your first vote.
- Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, all the big leaders are in jail. Elections are near. This affects the basic structure of the Constitution. This affects democracy. There should be equal opportunities in democracy. There is no need to arrest Kejriwal. There is now a new method of ED. First arrest them, then make them government witnesses and get desired statements, in return they get bail.
- Singhvi claimed, till now 50 percent of the people involved in the investigation have not taken the name of Kejriwal. Whereas 82 percent people did not mention any dealings with Kejriwal.
- Accusing ED, Singhvi said that the investigating agency does not have direct evidence against Kejriwal. Singhvi’s arguments have ended. Now Vikram Chaudhary will present arguments in favor of Kejriwal.
- Kejriwal’s lawyer said, ED claims that they had all the material against Kejriwal, then why did you wait till the code of conduct was implemented? Were you waiting for this? It is the right of a politician to participate in elections.
What order did the court give?
- According to the court order, Arvind Kejriwal will have to present the investigating agency in the court by 2 pm on March 28.
- The interrogation of Arvind Kejriwal will be done under the surveillance of CCTV cameras and the footage will be kept safe.
- Under Section 41 D of CrPC, accused Arvind Kejriwal was allowed to meet his lawyers Mohammad Irshad and Vivek Jain from 6 pm to 7 pm.
- Arvind Kejriwal was allowed to meet his wife Sunita Kejriwal and personal secretary Vibhav Kumar for half an hour every day.
- In view of the poor health of Arvind Kejriwal, the court has ordered ED that if they do not provide him the diet suggested by the doctors, then he is allowed to eat home food.
Kejriwal said- my life is dedicated to the country
While going to the court, Delhi CM Kejriwal said, my life is dedicated to the country. Whether I am alive or abroad, I will work for the country.
AAP leaders protested
AAP leaders and workers protested across the country including Delhi against Kejriwal’s arrest. During this time the police detained many MLAs and workers. AAP leaders demonstrated against BJP in Delhi. During the demonstration at ITO, the police asked the protesters to leave, citing the imposition of Section 144 in the area. After this the police took cabinet ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj into custody. The headquarters of BJP and AAP are near ITO. In view of AAP’s protest, police closed the roads leading to BJP headquarters and ED office. Due to this, there was massive traffic jam at ITO intersection, Rajghat and Vikas Marg.
Swaraj India founder Yogendra Yadav said, I am quite surprised. What is going on in this country in the name of democracy? You change the referee before the match by appointing a new election commissioner. You are freezing your opponent’s bank accounts. Do proper investigation, if the court finds guilty, then whether it is the Prime Minister or anyone else, he should be punished. Yogendra Yadav said, making any arrest before the elections is tantamount to murder of democracy. Injustice has been done to Arvind Kejriwal. I am sure people will teach them a lesson.
AAP will surround PM’s residence on March 26
Delhi government minister Gopal Rai said that on March 26, Aam Aadmi Party will surround the PM’s residence. He said, tomorrow at Shahidi Park in Delhi, all your Delhi MLAs, councilors and different leaders of India Alliance will take oath against dictatorship. Not only this, AAP will not celebrate Holi program against the arrest of Kejriwal and will appeal to people to come together at every place to save the country.
BJP said- Kejriwal is not above the law
BJP criticized the statement of Aam Aadmi Party in which the party had said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will run the government from jail. BJP said, this is an insult to the people, law and democracy. Union Minister Anurag Thakur asked whether Kejriwal considered himself above the law while BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra accused AAP leaders of spreading lies on the issue. He said, people involved in corruption will go to jail. BJP also targeted opposition leaders for supporting Chief Minister Kejriwal.
