Gujarat: Rohan Gupta resigns from Congress, makes serious allegations against senior party leaders

Rohan Gupta has now resigned from Congress after withdrawing his candidature in the Lok Sabha elections. In a letter sent to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, he has made many serious allegations against senior party leaders.
Rohan Gupta said, “I resign from all posts and primary membership of the Congress Party with immediate effect.” I am sad to inform that for the last two years, a senior leader associated with the communication department of the party has been subjected to continuous insult and character assassination. Now, times of personal crisis have forced me to take this decision (resignation).
Rohan Gupta claimed that many senior leaders of the party were aware of this. Rohan Gupta was known as a flamboyant spokesperson of Congress.

Rohan Gupta said that I have served the party in various roles at the national level for the last 13 years and have successfully fulfilled all the responsibilities with great sincerity and honesty with the support of the national leadership.
He said, “When I was dealing with serious health issues of my father and was going through the worst phase of my life, the same leader again with the support of his close associates in Gujarat and at the national level was resorting to abusive language against me for the last three days. Running a campaign. His behavior has caused severe mental anguish and stress and has forced me to resign from the party with a broken heart to protect my self-respect.
Withdrew candidacy
Congress had fielded Rohan Gupta as its candidate from Ahmedabad (East) Lok Sabha seat. However he withdrew his candidature. Rohan’s father Rajkumar Gupta had contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from the then Ahmedabad seat on a Congress ticket, but was unsuccessful.
Rohan had said on Tuesday (March 19) that his father was not happy with his decision to contest the elections and to put pressure on him, he resigned from the Congress a few days ago and also broke his decades-old relationship with the party.
