Russia’s biggest air attack on Ukraine with 150 missiles and drones, millions of people forced to live in darkness

Russia on Friday carried out its biggest ever air attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. It used 150 missiles and drones to target the huge dam in Zaporizhia, Ukraine. Although the dam did not break, millions of people in Ukraine were forced to live in darkness without electricity. At least five people have lost their lives in this attack.

Russia has targeted Dnipro HES, Zaporozhye’s largest dam. Ukraine, which has sought more air defense system facilities from Western countries, said the Russian attack led to a blackout-like situation in seven regions. Emergency power supply services had to be taken from neighboring countries Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Ukrainian Air Force said,

Russia attacked with 88 missiles and 63 martyred drones. Of these, 37 missiles and 55 drones were shot down. The attack caused a fire at the Dnipro Hydroelectric Station, which supplies electricity to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, Europe’s largest. To overcome the interruption of power supply in this power plant, Ukrainian engineers have fixed the high voltage power line.
