‘…then many leaders will be in jail even before the first vote is cast’, on hearing this argument the CJI said – hear Kejriwal today itself

The case of arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has now reached the Supreme Court. Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court against the arrest, on which the CJI has agreed to hear today.

Hearing the argument, CJI said – hearing should be held today itself

Senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi referred to Kejriwal’s plea against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the liquor policy case. Singhvi argued that if this process continues, many senior leaders will be behind bars before the first vote is cast.

On hearing the plea, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud posted Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for hearing today before a bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna.

A bench of three judges will hear the case

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna told Singhvi that the case of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be heard by a three-judge bench. The Supreme Court will hear today Kejriwal’s plea against the arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Khanna told senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in the liquor policy case that since it is a written petition, it will be before a three-judge bench.

Kejriwal had moved the Supreme Court late on Thursday night after being arrested by the ED.

The arrest took place last night

Let us tell you that Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED last night after more than an hour of interrogation in the liquor policy scam case. After the arrest, many Aam Aadmi Party leaders also demonstrated by blocking the road.

The party said that all this has happened at the behest of BJP and it is an attempt to stop Kejriwal from campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections.
