Defense Minister Rajnath will apply colors to soldiers in Siachen, will celebrate Holi

This time the festival of Holi is going to be very special in Siachen. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Siachen and meet the security forces deployed there. Rajnath will also celebrate the festival of Ranga with him.

Earlier in 2019, after assuming charge, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had gone to visit Siachen. During this, he met many officers as well as field commanders and soldiers. During this time, the then Army Chief Bipin Rawat was also present with him.

Siachen is the highest border in the world
During the Siachen visit, Rajnath Singh had told that this is an area where the temperature is 40 degrees less during the day. Siachen is the highest border of the country and situated in the lap of Himalayas. Siachen is the highest border of the world and Siachen situated in the lap of Himalayas is the highest and most dangerous battlefield in the world. On one side is Pakistan and on the other side is the deceitful China. Apart from Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited Siachen in 2017 after BJP came to center stage.

Due to its high altitude, the soldiers posted here have to face strong icy winds even on normal days. The temperature here drops to minus 60 degrees Celsius, and landslides and avalanches become common. Operation Meghdoot was launched in 1984 to defeat the Pakistani army on Siachen Glacier and capture the peak. The Indian Army is under control here since then.
