Foreign woman was bringing cocaine worth Rs 19 crore, arrested at Mumbai airport, cocaine was filled in shoes, shampoo and moisturizer bottles
A foreign female passenger has been arrested with a consignment of cocaine at Mumbai airport. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) took this action on the basis of intelligence information. Cocaine worth Rs 19 crore 79 lakh has been recovered from a foreign woman. The arrested woman had reached Mumbai airport from Nairobi. He holds Sierra Leone citizenship.
Based on the intelligence received, DRI officials started searching the luggage of a foreign woman at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. What the officials found during this period was shocking. The woman had kept shoes, moisturizer bottles, shampoo and deodorant bottles etc. in her luggage. During the search all these items were unusually heavy.
The woman had brought about two kilos of cocaine hidden
Later, when all these items were thoroughly examined, something like a white powder was found hidden in different bottles and shoes taken out of the woman’s bag. When the white powder was tested using a field test kit, it was found to be cocaine. About 1.979 kg of white powder i.e. cocaine has been recovered from the woman’s bag.
The value of recovered cocaine is Rs 19 crore
The market value of cocaine recovered from the bag of a foreign woman is estimated to be around Rs 19.79 crore. After this the female passenger was arrested. DRI officials took him into custody and interrogated him. After this he was produced in the court and then sent to judicial custody.
DRI has once again proved its usefulness by revealing these new methods of hiding the banned white powder i.e. cocaine from Mumbai Airport. Also, the agency is strengthening the fight against the drug menace in India.
