Uttarakhand: Bhavna left BSP, Mayawati gave Lok Sabha election ticket to Jameel Ahmed Qasmi from Haridwar seat

BSP supremo Mayawati has expressed confidence in Maulana on Haridwar Lok Sabha seat. BSP has fielded former MLA Hazrat Maulana Jamil Ahmed Qasmi against BJP’s Trivendra Singh Rawat, Congress candidate Harish Rawat’s son Virendra Rawat and independent Umesh Kumar Sharma in religious city Haridwar.

BSP declared candidate from Haridwar

Now the situation of Lok Sabha elections in religious city Haridwar seems to be gradually becoming clear. While BJP has fielded former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat as its candidate in this Lok Sabha election, Congress has declared Virendra Rawat, son of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, as its candidate for the Lok Sabha seat. With this, BSP has also fielded its candidate for the Lok Sabha seat. Where earlier there were speculations that BSP would field Bhavana Pandey as its candidate in this Lok Sabha election. But once again Mayawati has taken a shocking decision. He has fielded former BSP MLA Hazrat Maulana Jamil Ahmed Qasmi from Haridwar from Meerapur assembly seat.

Triangular contest on Haridwar seat

Dalit and Muslim voters are in a position to decide the winner in all the 11 assembly constituencies of Haridwar district. According to the 2011 census, Haridwar district has 6,48,119 Muslims (34.28%) out of the total population of 18,90,422. There are 13,05,266 voters in these 11 constituencies and the number of Muslim voters in each assembly seat of the district is on an average 20%. There are more than six constituencies like Roorkee, Piran Kaliyar, Bhagwanpur, Mangalore, Khanpur, Jwalapur etc., where the percentage of Muslim voters can be up to 25%. After Mayawati took this decision, the election has become triangular.

Who is Jameel Ahmed?

Maulana Jamil Ahmed has been MLA from Mirpur seat of Muzaffarnagar in 2012. After BSP, he joined RLD in 2021. Now he has joined BSP again. Jamil Ahmed will contest elections from Haridwar as a parachute candidate.
