Holi special train going from Patna to Mumbai caught fire, AC bogie burnt to ashes, passengers saved their lives by jumping

A fire broke out in the Holi special train going from Bihar’s capital Patna to Mumbai late on Monday night. Suddenly a fire broke out in the AC coach of 01410 Danapur-Lokmanya Tilak Holi Special Express train. This accident happened between Karisath Bihiya station of Ara-Buxar railway section. The fire caused panic among the passengers traveling in the train. The passengers saved their lives by jumping. Due to the accident, train operations on both the up and down lines were affected for about 5 hours. Due to this, the routes of many express trains were changed.
There is no report of any casualty due to fire in Holi special train. It is being told that there was not much crowd of passengers in the train, due to which a major accident was averted. On receiving the information, Police Station DRM Jayant Chaudhary, RPF Inspector Suman Kumari and many railway officials reached the spot. Railways diverted the trains running on Ara-Buxar route. The routes of many trains including Vibhuti Express, Rajendra Nagar-Lokmanya Tilak Terminal Express, Farakka Express were changed. The operation of Tejas and Rajdhani Express trains was also affected. However, the operation of trains has been made smooth on Tuesday morning.
According to the information, this train was running five hours late from the scheduled time. According to East Central Railway, this train from Danapur started at 11.06 pm on Monday night. After this it left Arrah at 11.58 am. After this a fire broke out on the way. It was fortunate that all the passengers in the train were taken out safely and no one was boated. Passengers got scared due to fire in the train late at night. As soon as the information was received, the loco pilot stopped the train by applying emergency brakes.
Eyewitnesses said that they suddenly saw flames rising from the train. The passengers got scared and pulled the chain. The loco pilot applied emergency brakes and the train stopped. As soon as the train stopped, all the passengers present in that coach jumped to save their lives. Some passengers hurriedly came out without their luggage. Within a short time the fire engulfed the entire coach.
The railway employees present on the spot showed wisdom and separated the coach from the train. Due to this the fire could not spread to other bogies. However, the luggage of the passengers kept in that coach was completely burnt to ashes.
CPRO Birendra Kumar of East Central Railway said that the fire broke out in the M6 coach of the special train going from Danapur to Lokmanya Tilak. There were only a few passengers in this coach. Later, by adding additional coaches to the train, the train was sent to Mumbai. He said that the cause of the fire is not yet known. It is being verified.
