Uttarakhand: Good news for elderly and disabled voters, this time they will be able to vote from home

There is good news for the elderly and disabled voters of Uttarakhand. This time, elderly and disabled voters will be able to vote from home. The first phase of door-to-door voting will begin from April 8. There are 994 voters in the state who have demanded a doli for voting. Along with this, 1,524 voters have placed their demand for wheelchairs before the Election Commission.
More than 65 thousand voters aged 85 plus
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that arrangements are being made for home voting for voters above 85 years of age. There are 65 thousand 160 voters of 85 plus age in the state. Forms were provided to all these voters out of which 10 thousand 390 applications were received.
Let us tell you that there are a total of 80 thousand 330 disabled voters in the state. Out of which five thousand 576 voters have applied for voting through postal ballot. The last date to apply for voting through postal ballot was March 25. This facility will be provided to the voters who have applied for voting through postal ballot.
The team will visit every voter’s house and contact them
Teams will visit the homes of voters in every district of the state and contact them. Let us inform that for this, the process of door-to-door voting is being started. The first phase of which will be started from April 8 for three days. If no voters are found at their homes during this period, then the second phase will be started from April 10 onwards.
Arrangements have been made at polling places
According to the Additional Chief Electoral Officer, minimum facilities have been arranged for voters in 11,729 polling places in the state. Ramps, drinking water, furniture and sheds have been arranged at 97 to 98 percent polling places. Under minimum facilities, alternative arrangements like ramp, drinking water, furniture, shed etc. are being made at some polling places.
