‘Intimidation is the old culture of Congress’, PM Modi said on the letter of 600 lawyers to CJI

There is only a short time left for the Lok Sabha elections and the political temperature of the country is high. The round of nominations is going on from the announcement of the names of the candidates. Meanwhile, more than 600 lawyers of the country including senior advocates Harish Salve and Pinky Anand have written a letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. It has been said that a special group is engaged in weakening the judiciary in the country. Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has targeted Congress regarding this.
In fact, more than 600 lawyers of the country have said in a letter to the CJI that the work of this special group is to exert pressure to influence court decisions, especially in cases in which either politicians are involved or on which There are allegations of corruption. It has been said in the letter that their activities are a threat to the democratic fabric of the country and faith in the judicial process.
After this letter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted it on social media platform X, targeting Congress. In this he wrote, “Intimidating others is the old culture of Congress. It was only 5 decades ago that he called for a “committed judiciary” – he shamelessly seeks commitment from others for his self-interests but avoids any commitment towards the nation. No wonder 140 crore Indians are rejecting him.”
Congress’s response also came
Congress has also reacted to PM’s statement. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh hit back and wrote on Twitter, “In recent weeks, the Supreme Court has given many blows to the Prime Minister. Electoral bond scheme is an example of this. The Supreme Court declared them unconstitutional and it has now been proven beyond any doubt that the bonds were a coercive instrument of fear, blackmail and intimidation to force companies to donate to the BJP. Instead of giving legal guarantee to MSP, the Prime Minister has given legal guarantee to corruption. All the Prime Minister has done in the last ten years is to divide, distort, divert and defame. 140 crore Indians are waiting for him to give a befitting reply soon.”
Lawyers had made serious allegations
Lawyers say that this particular group tries to influence the functioning of the judiciary in many ways, ranging from presenting a false narrative about the so-called golden era of the judiciary to raising questions on the current functioning of the courts and public confidence in the courts. Including reducing.
It has been said in the letter that this group praises or criticizes court decisions based on its political agenda. Actually this group believes in the theory of ‘my way or the highway’. Besides, the theory of bench fixing was also coined by him.
Lawyers allege that it is strange that leaders accuse someone of corruption and then defend them in court. In such a situation, if the court’s decision is not as per their wish, then they start criticizing the court either inside the court or through the media.
It has been said in the letter that some elements are trying to influence the judges or put pressure on the judges to give decisions in their favor in some selected cases. And this is being done by spreading lies on social media. These efforts of theirs are attempts to influence the courts for personal or political reasons, which cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
Lawyers appealed to CJI
These lawyers allege that the activities of these special groups become more active during the election season. The same thing was seen during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections also. We request the Supreme Court to take strict and concrete steps to protect our courts from such attacks.
In the letter, the lawyers have called for a united stand in support of the judiciary so as to ensure that the judiciary remains a strong pillar of democracy.
To browbeat and bully others is vintage Congress culture.
5 decades ago itself they had called for a "committed judiciary" – they shamelessly want commitment from others for their selfish interests but desist from any commitment towards the nation.
No wonder 140 crore Indians… https://t.co/dgLjuYONHH
