The power of ‘NOTA’ was visible in the 2019 elections in Uttarakhand, eight candidates lost on two seats

In the 2024 election battle, there will be a contest between BJP and Congress only on two Lok Sabha seats of Kumaon. The figures of 2019 are saying the same. Because then there were a total of eight candidates on Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar and Almora-Pithoragarh seats who also lost the election through NOTA. These candidates got less votes than NOTA. BJP had won both the seats by a huge margin. This time, Ajay Bhatt from BJP and Prakash Joshi from Congress are in the fray for Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar seat. Whereas in Almora-Pithoragarh there will once again be a fight between Ajay Tamta of BJP and Pradeep Tamta of Congress. Apart from this, candidates associated with small parties and independent candidates have also entered the fray. But if we look at the results of the last elections, 10608 voters in Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar and 15505 voters in Almora-Pithoragarh had rejected all the candidates by pressing the NOTA button. The special thing is that the four candidates who tried their luck from these two places could not even match NOTA.
