Mahant’s body found cut into three pieces in Sitapur, uproar in saint community
The body of Mahant, who was missing for 4 days in Sitapur, was found in pieces inside a sack on Friday. Local people informed the police about it when they smelled a foul smell. Mahant had suddenly gone missing during the parikrama in the Chaurasi Kosi Parikrama fair.
The police have seized the pieces of the body from inside the sack and sent them for postmortem. The police is also investigating many other aspects of the incident. The forensic team has collected evidence from the spot.
The case is of Misrikh Kotwali area. Here Mahant Maniram Das (65) Brahma Rishi Nimiya Baba resident village Girdharpur district Hardoi had come to Misrikh Chaurasi Kosi Parikrama. He was doing Panchkosi Parikrama in Misrikh after doing the parikrama of all the stops. He was last contacted on the phone on March 24.
Mahant’s nephew Tairam told that on March 24, he had last talked to his uncle Mahant on the phone about coming back home. When he did not reach home till evening, the family members tried to contact Mahant on his phone but the phone was switched off.
After a lot of searching, the family members informed the Misrikh police about Mahant’s disappearance. The police registered a missing person report and searched for Baba, but could not find any clue. The family members were also searching for him. But they could not find any trace of him.
On Friday evening, information was received about something lying in a sack on the side of Kesaripur Road, about 200 meters inside Sidhauli Road in Kotwali area. Local people informed the police about the matter when they smelled a foul smell. When the police reached the spot and investigated, the body of the Mahant was found in a sack in a mutilated state, which was confirmed by calling the Mahant’s family members.
CO Misrikh Rajesh Kumar said that after talking to the family members, the body has been sent for postmortem. A dispute related to Hardoi district is emerging behind the murder, but no concrete evidence has been found yet. The matter is being investigated thoroughly.
