Uttarakhand: BJP accused of running election call center in private school of Haldwani, Election Commission seeks reply on Congress’ complaint

Bharatiya Janata Party is reaching out among the people in different ways to campaign in favor of the party in the Lok Sabha elections. Under this, BJP has created a call center in Haldwani. Youth Congress State Vice President alleges that this call center has been set up in a private school. Messages are being sent to people through call centres. Congress has complained to the Election Commission about the call center set up by BJP. After which the Election Commission has issued a notice to the District President of Bharatiya Janata Party Nainital district.

Haldwani resident Youth Congress State Vice President Hemant Sahu had given a written complaint to the Election Commission on March 27 saying that BJP’s call center was being operated in a private school on Nainital Road without permission. Through which government schemes are being promoted through messages and phone calls on people’s mobiles. Considering this as a violation of the code of conduct, Hemant Sahu had complained about it to the Election Commission.

After this complaint, the Election Commission took cognizance of the entire matter. Nainital Bharatiya Janata Party has issued a notice to the district president and sought a reply within 24 hours. Assistant Returning Officer and City Magistrate AP Bajpai has said that after the complaint, a written reply has been sought from the BJP District President. If satisfactory response is not received, further action will be taken.

BJP’s call center operating in Haldwani has also become a topic of discussion on social media. At present the Election Commission has taken cognizance of the entire matter. Congress leader Hemant Sahu has said that BJP is violating the code of conduct.
