Big explosion in Indonesia’s ammunition storage, firefighters brought the fire under control

A major explosion occurred in a military depot in Indonesia on Saturday (30 March). Regarding which the Indonesian Army said that several explosions took place in a military ammunition warehouse on the outskirts of Indonesia’s capital Jakarta on Saturday (30 March). However, there was no immediate report of any casualty. The first explosion was heard at about 6:00 pm (1100 GMT) at a depot used to store expired ammunition inside a military compound in West Java, near the capital Jakarta, according to the military.

Let us tell you that, Jakarta city military chief Mohammad Hasan said during a press conference that at 6:05 pm, smoke was seen in the warehouse and explosions occurred. The military commander further said that officials evacuated nearby residents to safe areas. Because there was a fire in the storage facility. He said that we assure you that at present there has been no death. But, we cannot enter that place because small explosions are still happening there.

In fact, the Army has received reports that shells or projectiles may have fallen in the surrounding areas and people have been requested not to touch the objects. Military chief Mohammad Hassan said there was no electricity in the warehouse that exploded. The explosion may have been caused by unstable expired ammunition. Hasan further said that we suspect that this happened due to exhausted ammunition. Also it is possible that the chemical and explosive materials were unstable.
