Huge demonstration against the government in Israel, thousands of people gathered demanding resignation of PM Netanyahu
The war between Israel and Gaza continues and meanwhile Netanyahu is being strongly opposed in Israel. Thousands of protesters are on the streets of Israel, due to which pressure is increasing on the Netanyahu government. There are calls for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s resignation over his handling of the deadly war in Gaza as the conflict approaches six months, with more than 130 hostages still held captive.
There is pressure on Netanyahu from Hamas and the people of Israel. On the other hand, Hamas says that it will release the hostages, but Israel will have to withdraw its troops from Gaza and it will be a complete ceasefire. On the other hand, people are demanding to bring back the hostages. Thousands of people are protesting on the streets of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Now Netanyahu is trapped by both sides.
Protest on saturday
The protests on Saturday evening came as ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas are to resume in Cairo on Sunday. The aim of these talks, mediated by international mediators, is to reach a temporary ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the release of hostages. In Tel Aviv, protesters, including relatives of some hostages, blocked the city’s ring road. They were demanding the release of hostages as well as early elections.
