Big blow to Muslim side in Gyanvapi case, puja will continue in Vyas basement
The Muslim side has suffered a major setback in the Gyanvapi case. The apex court has said that worship will continue in Vyas ji’s basement. The Supreme Court has refused to stay the Varanasi Court’s order to perform puja at Vyas Basement. Along with this, the Supreme Court has also issued a notice to the Hindu side. The court has issued an order regarding the status quo and asked to present the Google Earth image of the mosque.
During today’s hearing, lawyer Huzaifa Ahmadi, appearing for the Muslim side, said that in the Vyas basement case, 7 days time was given in the order to hand over possession. The High Court did not give relief. Puja is taking place there. Ahmadi said that puja had not taken place for the last 30 years. In such a situation, this court should stay the order of the lower court. This is in the premises of the mosque and it is not appropriate to allow this.
Worship has not been happening for the last 30 years – Ahmadi
Ahmadi said that we had possession since 1993 on the orders of the state government. Puja was not taking place for the last 30 years. This should be banned. On which the CJI said that the High Court has found that the initial possession was with the Vyas family. After which Ahmadi said that this is his claim. there is no evidence. This is the place of the mosque. I don’t want to go into history. How can a civil court give such an order?
While arguing before the Supreme Court, Ahmadi said that the Varanasi Court has given the order in the case going beyond the civil claim. Ahmadi said that there was no worship from 1993 to 2023 and in 2023 a claim was made and the court ordered it and the place of worship was given keeping the law in mind.
