China changed the names of 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh; Gave new names to 11 residential areas, 12 mountains, 4 rivers, declared them as its part
China has once again claimed Arunachal Pradesh as its share. It has changed the names of 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh, claiming them as its own. According to the South China Morning Post published from China, 11 residential areas, 12 mountains, 4 rivers, a pond and a mountain path of Arunachal have been given new names. Some of these names have been released in Roman language, while some names have been released in Chinese and Tibetan languages.
China’s Civil Affairs Ministry released the list
China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs on Saturday released the list of renaming of 30 places in Jangnan. Let us tell you that China has been calling Arunachal Pradesh a part of Jangnan or Autonomous Region of Tibet. According to Chinese media, China’s Civil Ministry said in its statement that according to the provisions of the State Council, i.e. the Cabinet of China, it has standardized some geographical names of China’s Jungnan. This simply means that China has changed the names of these places.
China has done such things many times before
This action has not been taken by China for the first time. In the last seven years, China has changed the names of places in Arunachal Pradesh four times. Earlier in April 2023, China had changed the names of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh in its map. Even before this, the names of 15 places were changed in 2021 and 6 in 2017. By doing this, China is trying to assert its claim on some parts of Arunachal Pradesh.
Foreign Ministry had called China’s claim baseless
On March 28, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said on China’s claim of some places in Arunachal Pradesh as its own, that China can repeat its baseless claims as much as it wants. There is going to be no change in India’s stand on the issue of Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will always be an integral part of the country. Let us tell you that at that time the spokesperson of China’s Foreign Ministry had claimed that some part of Arunachal belonged to China. Randhir Jaiswal had said this in response to this.
America has also condemned China in this matter
Recently America had also described Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India. US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel had said on March 9 that the United Nations recognizes Arunachal Pradesh as Indian territory. We strongly oppose any unilateral attempt to escalate the border by military or civilian infiltration or transgression along the Line of Actual Control. China had criticized America on this and said that both India and China are ripe to resolve the border dispute.
