Congress leader P. Chidambaram termed BJP’s allegation in Katchatheevu Island case as absurd, read what else he said
PM Narendra Modi’s post on Katchatheevu Island issue and Union External Affairs Minister S. Congress leader P. Chidambaram has reacted to Jaishankar’s press conference. He said that BJP is making absurd allegations in this matter.
What did Chidambaram tell?
Speaking to the media, Chidambaram said, this agreement was made in 1974 and 1976. PM Modi is making allegations on the basis of the recent reply given in RTI, whereas he should look at the RTI reply of January 27, 2015, when Jaishankar was the Foreign Secretary. That reply clearly states that after negotiations the island is on the Sri Lankan side of the international border. Why did Indira Gandhi accept that it belonged to Sri Lanka? Because there were six lakh Tamil victims in Sri Lanka and they wanted to come to India. After this agreement, six lakh Tamils came to India and they are enjoying all human rights here.
BJP will not get even a single seat
Chidambaram claimed that its impact would be in favor of the Indi alliance. BJP is not going to get even a single seat in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Congress will have better numbers than BJP in Telangana and Karnataka.
