More than 800 medicines will become expensive from today, medicines used in common problems like fever are also included

Today is April 1 and from today more than 800 medicines are going to become expensive in India. Actually, the government has made many changes in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) under which the prices of many medicines will now increase. An increase of about 12% is being seen in the prices of these medicines. Under this, the National Essential Medicine List (NLEM) has been increased by 0.0055 percent. It is worth noting that this list also includes some medicines which are useful in common everyday problems. So, let us know what these medicines are.
Paracetamol price increased by 130%
According to reports, the prices of paracetamol have increased by 130%. Actually, this is a medicine which is used to control the symptoms of many diseases including fever. The increase in its prices may be a bit excessive for the common man.
Painkillers and antibiotics are also expensive
Painkillers, antibiotics and anti-infection medicines have also become expensive. Penicillin G has become costlier by 175%, while Azithromycin and some other medicines have also become costlier. Apart from this, many steroids are also included in this list.
These medicines also became expensive
Apart from these medicines, the prices of excipients have also increased. These are increased by 18-262% and include solvents including glycerin and propylene glycol, syrups. These have become costlier by 263% to 83%. Apart from this, the prices of some intermediate medicines have also increased between 11% to 175%.
