PM Modi does not come after doing homework, it is not appropriate to make such light talk, Congress attacks on Katchatheevu Island
The war of words between Congress and BJP on the issue of Katchatheevu Island has intensified. Meanwhile, Congress has fiercely targeted BJP and the Central Government. Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda said on Monday that PM Modi does not come after doing homework.
It does not suit the PM to talk lightly
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that in 2015, the Modi government had said in response to an RTI on the issue of Katchatheevu Island that neither it gave any land to Sri Lanka nor took any land. Doesn’t PM Modi know that this island had fishing rights till 2014? Why did fishing rights go away after 2014? PM Modi and BJP should answer this. Pawan Kheda said that making such light talk does not suit the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary KC Venu Gopal said that this is a distraction strategy of BJP. At the same time, state MP P Chidambaram said that this is an absurd allegation.
What did Chidambaram say?
Chidambaram said, this agreement was made in 1974 and 1976. PM Modi is making allegations on the basis of the recent reply given in RTI, whereas he should look at the RTI reply of January 27, 2015, when Jaishankar was the Foreign Secretary. That reply clearly states that after negotiations the island is on the Sri Lankan side of the international border. Why did Indira Gandhi accept that it belonged to Sri Lanka? Because there were six lakh Tamil victims in Sri Lanka and they wanted to come to India. After this agreement, six lakh Tamils came to India and they are enjoying all human rights here.
