Muslims did not attend the US President’s Iftar, Israel’s support cost Biden heavily, party had to be cancelled

US President Joe Biden has had to pay a heavy price for supporting Israel in the ongoing havoc in Gaza, Palestine. The Muslim leaders of the country are very angry with Biden. This was seen in the Ramadan celebration of the White House, when Muslim leaders and intellectuals of America turned down the invitation to Biden’s Iftar party. Due to this, the White House had to cancel the Ramadan celebration.

A large number of Muslims offered Namaz outside the White House in protest against Biden’s Iftar party, who supported Israel. The situation became such that Biden had to gather Muslim officials working in the White House for his Ramadan dinner. However, before dinner with these officials, Biden held a meeting with some Muslim leaders. According to Reuters, in this meeting, Muslim leaders put forth their views on the war in Gaza. Some even left the meeting midway.

According to Reuters, Palestinian-American doctor Thayer Ahmed was also among those who met Biden. He said that how can you talk about starvation while eating food at the dinner table. He told Biden that Israel is creating carnage in Gaza. He also showed the US President a letter from an 8-year-old girl living in Rafah, in which she has written that they sleep every night in fear of not knowing when Israeli tanks will crush their tents. Ahmed left the meeting after a 6-minute discussion with Biden.

Apart from Ahmed, 3 more doctors who returned after treating people in Palestine met Biden. Apart from Biden, US Vice President Kamala Harris, US First Lady Jill Biden and US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan were also present in the meeting with Muslim leaders. When Sullivan was asked about the updates of the meeting on Wednesday, he refused to reveal anything. He said that the meeting was private.

Let us tell you that Palestine has applied for full membership as a country in the United Nations. Palestine has UN observer status since 2012. On one hand, while America supports a full Palestinian country, on the other hand it is against the Palestinian Authority’s proposal on UN membership. On Wednesday, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that Palestine should resolve the status issue by making an agreement with Israel instead of taking it to the UN.
