Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Villagers of Misras Patti agreed to CDO’s persuasion, withdrew decision to boycott elections

The administration came into action due to the decision of the villagers of Misras Patti, Gram Panchayat of Sahaspur Development Block to boycott the elections under the slogan ‘No Road, No Vote’. After talks with the Chief Development Officer, the villagers have withdrawn the decision to boycott the Lok Sabha elections.

Let us tell you that for many years the villagers have been demanding construction of road till Dunga-Thangaon-Misras belt passing through forest land. The villagers have announced boycott of the Lok Sabha elections if their demands are not met. Let us tell you that the villagers had also boycotted the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2019 to demand the road.
Villagers agreed to CDO’s assurance
Last Thursday, CDO Jharna Kamthan reached the village along with officials of Public Works, Forest and Revenue Department. He talked to the villagers. The CDO assured that the road would be constructed in June. After which the villagers withdrew the decision to boycott the elections.
Road will be built in June: CDO
The CDO said that under the district plan, budget will be provided to the forest department so that 3.27 km paved tiles road can be constructed to reach the village. Village head Diwan Singh said that after the assurance, the villagers have withdrawn their decision to boycott the elections. If the road work does not start in June, the villagers will be forced to protest in the DM office.
