Eid is being celebrated today in Kerala, Kashmir and Ladakh, know when Eid will be celebrated in other states.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Kerala, Eid is being celebrated today on Wednesday, but in the rest of India, Eid will be celebrated tomorrow on Thursday. The festival of Eid is celebrated by seeing the moon and people in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh including Kerala could see the moon.

Today, on Wednesday itself, Eid is being celebrated in the Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, on the basis of which, except a few countries, the Muslim population of the rest of the world celebrates Eid on the next day. For example, in countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Bahrain, Indonesia, Australia and Kuwait, Eid is being celebrated today on 10th April.

What did Mufti Naseer-ul-Islam say on celebrating Eid?

In India, Eid is usually celebrated the next day after Eid in Saudi Arabia, but in Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Naseer-ul-Islam had announced that the moon of Shawwal (commonly called the moon of Eid) has been sighted. And Eid will be celebrated on Wednesday only. He had told that a consultative committee was formed under his chairmanship, which was given information about the sighting of the moon from different parts.

When is Eid celebrated?

Mufti Naseer-ul-Islam said that later after discussion, sighting of the moon was confirmed and then Eid was announced to be celebrated on Wednesday itself. People of the Muslim community celebrate Eid after fasting for a whole month by seeing the moon at the beginning of the next month. For example, after Ramadan comes the month of Shawwal according to the Islamic calendar, which is called Hijri month.

Eid will be celebrated in India on 11 April

Eid is also being celebrated in Kerala today, where Kerala clerics including Syed Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal, Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal and Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musaliar announced on Tuesday night that the Shawwal moon had been sighted. Meanwhile, Markaji Chand Committee of Lucknow has announced that Eid will be celebrated on April 11, because the sighting of the moon could not be confirmed on Tuesday evening. For example, Eid will be celebrated tomorrow in the remaining parts of India also. Eid namaz in Delhi will start from 7 to 8 pm in different parts.
