Preparations for the yatra started… Army soldiers left for Hemkund to remove snow, doors will open on 25th

The doors of the world famous Hemkund Sahib will be opened for pilgrims on May 25. Preparations for the journey have started in this regard. The main task in preparing for the journey is to remove snow from the journey path. Indian Army soldiers do this work every year.

There is still about 10 feet of snow in Hemkund. In such a situation, today on the instructions of Brigade Commander Brigadier Dhilon, OC Colonel Sunil Yadav of 418 Independent Engineering Corps has sent army soldiers under the leadership of Har Sevak Singh and Pramod Kumar to remove the snow.

In the morning, permission was taken by offering ardas in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib at Gurudwara Govind Ghat. After this, the first contingent and the sevadars of the Gurdwara were sent to Ghangaria by the Chief Manager of the Gurudwara Trust, Seva Singh.

This group will reach Hemkund Sahib from Ghangaria tomorrow to remove snow. 35 soldiers and servants of Gurudwara are fulfilling this responsibility. Hemkund Sahib always receives heavy snowfall in winter. Due to which icebergs remain scattered everywhere. There is a huge glacier near Atlakudi, two km before Hemkund Sahib. Here a path has to be made by cutting the ice from the middle. The sacred lake here is also completely frozen with ice.
