In Pakistan, a judge returning home late at night was kidnapped, the Chief Justice of the High Court called an emergency meeting

How safe the general public is in Pakistan, a stronghold of terrorists, can be gauged from the fact that a senior judge returning home from court proceedings late on Saturday was kidnapped by armed miscreants. The police are also in shock after the incident. The matter is said to be of Khyber Pakhtunkhya, the most troubled province of Pakistan. Police officials said that the judge’s car has been recovered, the judge’s driver is also safe. He has not suffered any kind of damage. The kidnappers took the judge in their car. On the other hand, after hearing the news of the judge’s kidnapping, the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court has also called an emergency meeting regarding the safety of judges in the area.

According to the information received, Pakistani judge Shakirullah Marwat was abducted near Tank and Dera Ismail (DI) Khan districts bordering Afghanistan. DI Khan Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammad Adnan said that the incident took place in a village called Bagwal. The judge was kidnapped when he was returning from Beauty to DI Khan. Police said no one has claimed responsibility for the judge’s kidnapping.

Reacting to the incident, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Information Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi expressed concern. He called Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Zameen Gandapur and termed such an incident in the province as heinous. “The (Chief Minister) should explain why he is not serious about establishing peace in the area and why terrorists are on the loose,” he asked.

Kunji said that the news of the judge’s kidnapping has created a feeling of insecurity among the public. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued instructions for the safe recovery of the kidnapped judge. He said emergency measures should be taken for the recovery of Marwat and all available resources should be used for the task. Gandapur condemned the incident, saying that the elements involved in kidnapping cannot escape justice.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim along with two other judges has called an emergency meeting to ensure the safety of senior judges in the province. Additional Chief Secretary of the state and Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur attended the meeting. Secretary Home Abid Majeed gave information about the meeting. The district administration has been instructed to ensure timely recovery of the judge.
