No relief for Manish Sisodia, bail plea rejected
Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has got a setback from the Rouse Avenue Court in the Delhi liquor scam case. The court rejected his bail plea. The court gave its decision on Sisodia’s plea seeking bail in both ED and CBI cases. His bail plea has been rejected for the second time.
Let us tell you that even before this, the lower court, High Court and Supreme Court have refused to grant bail to Sisodia. Opposing the bail, the investigating agency had said that Sisodia is the ‘kingpin’ of the scam, so he should not be granted bail. The investigating agency claimed that if he is granted bail, he can tamper with the evidence and influence the witnesses.
What will be the next step?
Now Sisodia will go to Delhi High Court against this decision of the lower court. Sisodia was first arrested by the CBI on 26 February 2023 in the Delhi Excise Policy case. After this, the ED arrested him on 9 March 2023 in the same case. Since then he is in jail in judicial custody.
Earlier, the court had extended Sisodia’s judicial custody till 8 May. At the same time, Sisodia withdrew the interim bail petition filed to campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Lok Sabha elections.
On the action taken against the party leaders, AAP has been alleging that BJP is taking revenge. AAP has been claiming that Manish Sisodia brought about ‘revolutionary’ changes in the field of education in Delhi, he built schools for children and hence he was put in jail. At the same time, BJP alleges that AAP leaders are involved in corruption, due to which they are not getting relief from the court.
