Rahul Gandhi’s big claim, “If BJP returns to power, it will tear the Constitution and throw it away”

While addressing an election rally in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi made a big claim. Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday claimed that if BJP returns to power at the Centre, it will tear up the Constitution that gives rights to the poor, Dalits, tribals and OBCs. Holding a copy of the Constitution in his hand, he said that the current Lok Sabha election is not a normal election, but a fight between two ideologies.

The Congress star campaigner said only rich people and celebrities were present during the Ram Lalla idol consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, and not poor laborers or farmers. The Congress leader said that his party and the constituent parties of I.N.D.I.A. are fighting to save the Constitution. He said that before independence and the drafting of the Constitution, the poor, Dalits, tribals, backward classes and farmers had no rights and these rights were given to them when the law was implemented in 1950.

“BJP wants the Constitution to be thrown away”

Rahul Gandhi warned that if BJP comes to power again, the rights enjoyed by the poor, tribals and Dalits will not be implemented and schemes like MNREGA, land rights, reservation, pension and other welfare measures will also end. Gandhi, MP from Wayanad, claimed, “The Prime Minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and their MPs have made up their minds that if elected, they will tear up the Constitution. BJP wants the Constitution to be thrown out and only 20-25 billionaires should run the country.”

“Constitution is the soul of the poor, no one can touch it”

The Congress leader said the Constitution gave voice to Dalits, tribals, backward classes and poor people from other castes. He alleged that top BJP leaders have already openly declared that if their party wins the elections, they will change the Constitution. Rahul Gandhi said, “The Constitution is the soul of the poor and no one can touch it. No power in the world can change this. These BJP people are dreaming. Congress B. R. Along with Ambedkar and his countrymen, he fought against the British and drafted the Constitution, which is the voice of India.”

“Loans worth Rs 16 lakh crore of 22 to 25 people were waived off”

He also targeted the BJP government on the issue of reservation in jobs and education for the deprived sections of the society. “They (BJP) say they are not against reservation,” Rahul alleged. If you are not against reservation, then why are you privatizing the public sector, Railways. Why did you bring Agniveer Yojana? All these actions are against the reservation system.” The Congress leader claimed that the BJP-led government at the Center has waived off loans worth Rs 16 lakh crore of 22 to 25 people. This amount was enough to waive the farmers’ loans for 25 years and provide benefits under MNREGA for 24 years.

“Did the PM ever say that he will waive off the loans of the poor?”

He said, “But I want to ask whether the loans of farmers, workers, small traders were waived off? A poor person goes to a private hospital and gets into debt, but has Prime Minister Narendra Modi ever said that he will waive off the loans of the poor?” Rahul said, “These 22 people (billionaires) have money equal to 70 crore Indians. When the consecration ceremony of Ram temple took place, all these people were sitting there. Did you see any poor laborer or farmer there? Bollywood actors, members of the Indian cricket team were there, but no poor, backward, tribal people were seen there.”

“Unemployment and inflation are major issues in the country, but…”

The Congress leader said that when the inauguration of the new Parliament building and the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple took place, the tribal president (Draupadi Murmu) was not invited, to ensure that only Prime Minister Modi was seen at these important events. He alleged that agricultural laws were made (later repealed) by the Center only to help some industrialists. Rahul Gandhi said that unemployment and inflation are major issues in the country, but the media does not raise them. He told the people present in the meeting that if Congress comes to power, it will make crores of women ‘millionaires’ through its Mahalakshmi scheme.

“Congress can make crores of women millionaires”

Under the scheme, the government will send Rs 1 lakh every year (Rs 8,500 per month) to the accounts of eligible women to make them ‘Lakhpati’. Rahul Gandhi said that if Prime Minister Modi can make 22-25 industrialists billionaires, then Congress can definitely make crores of women millionaires. He also mentioned the party’s manifesto’s promise of an ‘apprenticeship’ scheme for unemployed youth. Let us tell you that Congress has fielded MLA Phool Singh Baraiya from Bhind Lok Sabha seat (reserved for Scheduled Caste) against outgoing BJP MP Sandhya Rai. Voting for Bhind and seven other Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh will be held on May 7.
